Dentist Tom Sokoly - Good Recommendation

He's friendly and cheery in a non-scary way, staff is nice, no yelling about flossing, and he has a vibrating chair! Talks to me about maintaining good dental hygeine and has never once mentioned tooth whitening. My insurance changed and I still go to him, despite the slightly higher cost- good recommendation.

Tom Sokoly DDS is an AWFUL DENTIST

I had been to Tom several times in the past without major problems. Not great service, but nothing bad either - until now. They stuck me with a full $160 bill for a regular cleaning DESPITE having insurance with a $5 co-pay for regular cleanings.

My insurance changed. I contacted Tom's office and asked if they accept Aetna DMO. They said not yet, but the paperwork is in the process. They tell me to come in anyway and not to worry about it because I would be covered. I come in for a regular cleaning.

Shortly after my cleaning, I receive a bill from Sokoly for $160. Sokoly's office does not accept my insurance. I called and complained, but the staff and Tom Sokoly really don't care about customer service. They just want to get you in the door no matter what to make money off of you.

I called several times and finally they agreed to have me pay for the procedure at "cost" which to them was still $120. They said they would send me a revised bill. 2 weeks go by, no bill, I follow-up with them and leave a voicemail. 2 more weeks go by and no bill, I call and leave another voicemail. I called one more time (keep in mind, I'm ASKING FOR a revised bill to pay out of my own pocket here - I think this is fairly responsible). No response. I give up.

2-3 months later I get a threatening letter from a collections agency demanding that I pay $160. What the hell?? I paid it immediately upong receiving the letter. I can't believe that Tom Sokoly never returned my calls, and never talked to me directly about the problem. Instead, he uses a collections agency to THREATEN me. I am shocked and disappointed both at the lack of maturity Tom Sokoly displayed in resolving this disput and the cowardly way in which he ultimately chose to handle the dispute.

I made many attempts to call and follow up with him - and even accepted paing their "cost" of service. He made no attempt to call and talk to me directly; a complete coward.

Tom Sokoly DDS - TERRIBLE WORK
On top of my previous post, I have since been to much better dentists who are shocked at the shoddy work Tom Sokoly performed on my teeth for some fillings. Apparently, he is just out to make a quick buck. To this day, I still have problems with my bite due to his inept skills with fillings and crown work. I do not recommend Tom Sokoly as a dentist, nor as a respectable person to associate with.
